FromSoftware has rolled out Nightreign patch 1.02, adding the long-requested Duo Expeditions mode and a raft of quality-of-life improvements across relics, UI, and performance. Difficulty now scales to your party size, making two-player runs a first-class option alongside solo and three-player squads.
What Are Duo Expeditions?
Duo Expeditions let you start a run with exactly two players, with enemy balance adjusting to the current number of players. It’s ideal for friends who want coordinated co-op without filling a third slot.
Quality-of-Life Highlights in 1.02
-
Relic management upgrades: New Relic Effect filters (including multi-condition filtering), the ability to favoriteand sell acquired relics, and an expanded preset limit of 100.
-
Interface polish: Results screen now shows Passive & Special Effects; tabs added to the Small Jar Bazaar and Collector Signboard; “Detailed Description” available in Limveld shop weapon menus; plus many smaller UI tweaks.
-
Flow improvements: You can skip part of the Night Aspect post-fight cutscene from the System → Quit Game menu. Idle disconnects for single-player expeditions have been removed.
-
Stability & fixes: A long list of bug fixes and performance improvements, including enemy/skill edge cases (e.g., Caligo movement bounds, grab-attack issues, crash fixes).
How to Start a Duo Expedition (Step-by-Step)
-
At the Roundtable Hold hub, interact with the table to open the Expedition interface.
-
Switch from the Target tab to Matchmaking Setting.
-
Set Number of Players to 2 (add a password to invite a friend, or use community passwords).
-
Switch back to Target and Commence Expedition.
The game remembers your setting for next time; you can cancel a queued expedition from the same interface.
Small Print Worth Knowing
-
Online play requires the update. If your title screen doesn’t show App Ver. 1.02 / Regulation Ver. 1.02, log in and apply the latest regulation files.
-
Patch 1.02’s notes do not promise expedition-exclusive loot; treat Duo rewards like standard expedition rewards unless future notes say otherwise.
Bottom line: Patch 1.02 finally makes duos a native way to play Nightreign and meaningfully smooths everyday friction with better relic tools and UI. Grab a partner, set Number of Players = 2, and dive back into Limveld.
