Escape from Tarkov, the influential extraction shooter from Battlestate Games, is preparing for its long-awaited Steam debut. Studio head Nikita Buyanov confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that a Steam page “will be available soon”, though full details are being withheld for now.
The confirmation came shortly after Battlestate posted a cryptic GIF of a man spraying steam from an iron—hinting at the move before Buyanov made it official.
1.0 Release Coming in November 2025
Earlier this month, Buyanov also revealed that Escape from Tarkov will exit beta on November 15, 2025, more than eight years after it first opened to players in July 2017. Alongside the full release, the studio has confirmed plans to port Tarkov to consoles.
The Steam page is not yet live, but players are already asking big questions: Will existing owners have to repurchase the game on Steam? And can Battlestate address Tarkov’s long-running cheating issues as it prepares for a larger audience?
Community Controversy Over Premium Editions
The Steam news comes on the heels of controversy surrounding Tarkov’s Unheard Edition, a $250 package that includes a new PvE mode. Many players argued that owners of the older Edge of Darkness Edition, which promised access to all future DLCs, should have received this content for free.
Battlestate countered that the PvE mode was not classified as DLC, but the backlash pushed Buyanov to apologize. He later confirmed that Edge of Darkness owners will indeed receive access to the new mode.
What It Means for Tarkov Fans
For long-time fans, Tarkov’s arrival on Steam signals a major milestone that could bring a broader player base—and more scrutiny. While pricing details and account migration policies remain unclear, the move could help stabilize the game’s future if Battlestate addresses community trust and anti-cheat measures ahead of launch.
